MARLIN (November 26, 2012)-- Marlin police Chief Darrell Allen was out of the hospital and on his way to a rehabilitation facility in the Austin area Monday.
Allen spent about a week in the intensive care unit of Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center in Waco after he was injured on Nov. 16 in an early morning rollover accident near Marlin.
He told News Ten he’s set to begin rehabilitation in the Austin area after suffering a broken femur, among other injuries.
The accident happened at around 2 a.m. Nov. 16 on State Highway 6 north of Marlin as Allen was driving home from an off-duty security job in Waco.
A Department of Public Safety trooper who investigated the accident said Allen lost control of his 2004 Ford Explorer near Falls County Road 121, it left the roadway and overturned several times.
Allen, who was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle, the DPS report said.
