MARLIN (December 11, 2012) --The Marlin City Council had questions for their city manager concerning the bodies of dogs found dumped at a city park a week ago.

City Manager William McDonald told city council at a meeting Tuesday night that he does not recall giving anyone permission to dump dead animals at the park.

McDonald said the incident is still under investigation by the Marlin Police department and clarified that the animals were already dead when dumped.

The site of the illegal dead dog dumping is in city council member Billie Jean Scaggs district.

Scaggs said dead dogs have been dumped at the site for more than a year and she does not think it was done by residents.

She also said she is shocked that more wasn't being done about the incident.

An executive session was held at the city council meeting "to deliberate the evaluation" of the city manager. No action was taken by the city council.

McDonald said the city plans to have a dumpster in place by the end of the week to store the dead dogs until they are transferred to a landfill in Lacy Lakeview.
