MCGREGOR (February 8, 2013)--Local pup Bear will be competing in the Westminster Dog show in NYC Tuesday for the 4th consecutive year.

Even if the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon had thumbs, his recognition exceeds what he can count on his paws, including: 2010 AKC Eukanuba Nationals Award of Excellence, AKC Champion before one year old, international champion, four-time invite to the Westminster Dog Show, four-time invite to Eukanumba Nationals, grand champion winner in three months, AKC 81 Best of Breed, THD title by AKC for being a therapy dog and more.

Bear is not only the first of his breed in the state invited to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show but is the first of his kind in the state to become an AKC Grand Champion.

When he’s not strutting his stuff at the arena, Bear visits the sick as a registered therapy dog at both Hillcrest and Providence hospitals in Waco.

Bear has fathered 31 puppies in three litters and is available by Rockbridge Kennels in McGregor for stud service.

Bear is owned by Kay and David Boehner of McGregor and is handled by Trudy Golden Atkins of Arkansas.
