Limestone County: Mexia Man Found Guilty Of Capital Murder Sentenced To Life

LIMESTONE COUNTY (January 17, 2013)—After hours of deliberation, the jury found Chad Michael Musgrove, 28, of Mexia guilty of capital murder.

Prosecutors weren't seeking the death penalty so Musgrove was automatically sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole.

Musgrove was convicted of killing his father in August 2011 and kidnapping a woman from scene of the killing.

Both sides rested Thursday in Groesbeck in murder trial after Musgrove took the stand to testify on his own behalf.

He was arrested in Montgomery County after a woman told police in Panorama Village south of Huntsville that Musgrove shot and killed his father, William Doyle Patterson, 54, at Patterson’s home in Mexia and then kidnapped her after the shooting.

Mexia police, acting on the information they received from Panorama Village authorities, went to Patterson's home in the 1300 block of Palestine Street and found Patterson’s body lying on the floor.

Panorama Village police, meanwhile, tracked Musgrove to a residence and SWAT officers arrested him there and took him to the Montgomery County Jail.

Mexia police said Patterson, Musgrove and the woman, Nancy Few, all lived in the home.
