MEXIA (October 10, 2012)-On Friday, seventh and eighth grade students will participate in the GEAR UP Launch, a program that creates awareness of college, career, and character.
The federal GEAR UP Grant offers students greater access to different programs that assist them through graduation and post-secondary education.
The event will be held at Mexia Junior High on Friday from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Various colleges and military institutes will be represented while students explore college and career websites using the new district iPads.
The Limestone County Game Warden will also share information on his unique career.
Employees in law enforcement, medical professions, and firefighters will also be present to represent their careers and share with students the educational requirements for each.
Students will spend time researching perspective colleges, costs, and requesting information from their colleges of choice.
