SALADO (November 28, 2012)--The annual Christmas Stroll and Home Tour is just around the corner, with a parade to kick things off Thursday.
The Christmas Parade will begin at 5 p.m. and will stroll its way north on Main Street to the Historic Civic Center where children can meet and greet Santa, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate and watch the lighting of the Christmas tree.
Beginning Friday, community members are sure to get in the Christmas spirit with the decorations, live nativity scene and an exterior tour of the historical homes that help make the town unique.
The Tour of Homes is an annual fundraiser for the Salado Historical Society.
Tickets are $15 and children under 12 can participate for free.
The tour includes an old cemetery, churches, plantation house and more and is available from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Saturday and 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. Sunday.
Tickets can be purchased at the Salado Visitors Center.
Along with food tasting, musical entertainment, book signings, giveaways and visits with Santa, the Tablerock Amphitheatre will perform “A Christmas Carol” at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday and the Silver Spur Theatre will host a comedic play entitled “Christmas is on the Air.”
The fun will last all weekend and end on Sunday.
