SALADO (October 18, 2012)--The Salado Board of Aldermen will meet Thursday night to discuss the funding and designation of the sculpture garden which otherwise could close.

Initially, Keep Salado Beautiful and the Public Arts League of Salado paid about $2,000 for liability insurance.

Due to dwindling funds the organizations fear they may not be able to keep the park open.

In order to make the Salado Sculpture Garden a public park, the board would need to approve two $1 per-year agreements on the lease with those who own the property.

Salado Creekside Business Arts Campus and the Presbyterian Church of Salado own the property.

Park advocates hope that if the idea is adopted and the park becomes public, insurance rates would be substantially lowered.

The meeting is slated for 6 p.m. in the Municipal Building on N. Stagecoach Road.

The public is invited to attend.
