CENTRAL TEXAS (May 7, 2013)--The Killeen-Temple Metropolitan Planning Organization (KTMPO) is looking for input to identify and prioritize road projects and transportation-related needs to sustain the community for the next 25 years.

Five workshops across Central Texas have been scheduled for May to gather input and develop a successful plan which will be due in 2014.

KTMPO is responsible for coordinating regional transportation planning for all of Bell County and the eastern corners of Coryell and Lampasas counties, and is a joint effort of a Transportation Planning & Policy Board and Technical Committee.

The decision-making policy board is advised by the technical committee, both made up of community members and elected officials.

Residents will be able to voice their concerns and thoughts regarding the needs of the bicycle and pedestrian population, aviation, passenger rail, safety, transit, air quality, road congestion, freight and more.

The first workshop is slated for Thursday in the Police Department Community Room on East Avenue E in Copperas Cove.

The next meeting, in Temple, will be held at Wheatley Alternative School on E. Avenue D on May 14.

Killeen’s meeting will be held May 16 at the Killeen Community Center on E. Veterans Memorial Blvd. and Harker Heights' meeting will be at the Harker Heights Activity Center on May 21.

The final meeting in May will be held in Belton at the CTCOG Building at 2180 N. Main Street on May 23.

All meetings will run from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.
