TEMPLE (June 26, 2012)—Charges were pending Tuesday against a man who led Temple police on vehicle chase that ended in the parking lot of the district office of U.S. Rep. John Carter, R- Round Rock.

The pursuit started Monday evening after officers were sent to the area of Midway Drive and South General Bruce Drive in response to reports of a man who was “acting in a bizarre manner,” police said Tuesday.

Callers said the man entered businesses and a home whose residents didn’t know him and said the man wanted to call police or federal agents, police said.

At around 6 p.m., an officer spotted a vehicle matching the description provided by the callers and tried to pull the driver over.

But the man at the wheel sped up and a chase started that headed south on Midway Drive, south on Charter Oaks Drive and then east on Profit Place toward Interstate 35.

The chase ended when the man pulled into the parking lot of Carter’s office just off Profit Place and South General Bruce and stopped.

The man was arrested without incident, but paramedics checked him out at the scene for what police said was a minor head injury he suffered when he began banging his head after he was placed in a patrol car.

Temple police so far think that the driver’s choice of a stopping place was coincidental and that there was never any threat to the congressman or local staffers, but the investigation continues.

Ronald Guillory of Temple was taken to the Bell County Jail where he was facing evading arrest with a vehicle and resisting arrest charges.
