TEMPLE (February 6, 2013)--A Temple man was held Wednesday in the Bell County Jail charged in connection with the sexual assault of an underage girl.

Emmitt Lawrence McNeil, 60, was ordered held in lieu of $50,000 bond, charged with sexual assault of a child.

Temple police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said McNeil was arrested Tuesday after detectives obtained a warrant in connection with an incident that was reported in December at a residence on North 7th Street in Temple.

McNeil shows an address on North. 7th Street, as well.

The victim, whose age was not released, told officers she had been sexually assaulted more than once.

Police say the incidents remain under investigation.
