TEMPLE (January 4, 2013)--A Temple man pleaded guilty Friday in Waco's federal court to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine within 1000 feet of a public playground.
U.S. District Judge Walter S. Smith set Paul Michael Gomez for sentencing on Feb. 27.
An affidavit filed in U.S. Magistrate's court says on Oct. 30, 2012, officers with the Temple Police Department's Special Investigations Unit served a search warrant on a residence in Temple.
The officers found methamphetamine, Xanax, drug paraphernalia, scales and a .40 caliber handgun that police later discovered was reported stolen.
Police also recovered $2,091 in U.S. currency, two loaded magazines, marijuana and records that showed Gomez's name.
During an interview after his arrest, Gomez admitted to police that the drugs and gun were his, but said he was not aware that the gun had been stolen.
