Temple: Restaurant Employee Uses His Head To Thwart Robbery Attempt

TEMPLE (January 28, 2013)—Temple police were investigating Monday after a would-be robber confronted a man who was taking out the trash Sunday morning at a local restaurant.

The would-be robber grabbed the victim from behind and ordered him to go back inside to get the money, but the employee, who was not identified, responded by striking the robber in the front of the head with the back of his head.

The suspect released the employee and fled, police said.

The robbery was reported at around 8:30 a.m. Sunday at the Smashburgers restaurant at 3008 South 31st St.

Officers searched the area in an unsuccessful attempt to find the suspect who’s white, stands 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-9 and was wearing dark jeans and a black mask.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to call the Temple Police Department at (254) 298-5500.
