TEMPLE (October 11, 2012)—The city of Temple, in cooperation with Waste Management-Temple Landfill, Keep Temple Beautiful, Inc., and the Central Texas Council of Governments, will be hosting a Household Hazardous Waste Collection event on Saturday.
The collection will be held from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. at the Temple Service Center, located at 3210 East Avenue H.
Residents living in Bell, Coryell, Hamilton, Lampasas, Milam, Mills, and San Saba counties are invited to participate.
Those wishing to participate may bring a variety of materials including, but not limited to, pool chemicals, automotive batteries, transmission fluid, electronics, paints, ammonia, and brake fluid.
The waste collection event is an opportunity for residents to dispose of household hazards properly.
The event offers a better alternative to throwing the materials in your household garbage to be disposed of in the landfill or igniting in the garbage truck causing a fire.
Prohibited items for this event include infectious and medical wastes, ammunition, fire extinguishers, and explosives among other items.
For a complete list of accepted and prohibited items, contact the City of Temple Solid Waste Services at (254) 298-5725 or (254) 931-2487.
