TEMPLE (December 7, 2012)—A new piece of artwork will soon adorn the All Access Playground in Lions Park.
The Temple Parks Foundation will host a dedication ceremony on Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Rotary Club of Temple South All Access Playground, located at 4320 Lions Park Road.
All members of the community are encouraged to attend.
The sculpture named “Fun Time” is being donated by Dr. Gordon and Kathy Marshall and family in honor of their son, Matthew Marshall.
Matthew passed away in February and would have turned 25 in September.
As a way to honor and celebrate his life, they chose to donate a beautiful sculpture of three children playing.
The sculpture represents the Marshall’s three children: Matthew, Jennifer, and Derek.
“We decided that the Art in the Park program is a perfect way to honor Matthew. We hope that this sculpture will bring joy to all of the children that visit the park. We decided that the All Access Playground would be a perfect location since Matthew was a wheelchair child and would have been able to truly enjoy this playground. This playground is special because it is for all children of all abilities,” said Mrs. Marshall.
