WOODWAY (October 31, 2012)-An early Wednesday morning standoff in Woodway ended peacefully at about 5:15 a.m. after police were able to convince a man who had barricaded himself inside a home to surrender.

Officers were first called at about 2 a.m. to an address in the 8200 block of Teakwood Drive where a caller reported a domestic disturbance.

Police at the scene called for a special response because they believed there were numerous weapons inside the home.

Woodway police and SWAT officers just before 3 a.m. surrounded the house after a man barricaded himself inside.

Police closed down Woodland West Drive north of Bosque Boulevard while they dealt with the situation.

Just before 5 a.m. one of the officers said the SWAT team was about to use gas to try to force the suspect out of the house.

Another officer was heard to say the man's attorney, Jerald Villarrial, also was at the scene and was involved in the negotiation to get the suspect to surrender.

Villarrial identified the barricaded man as Paul Garcia.

At about 5:15 a.m. Garcia, 32, surrendered without further incident and no one was injured.

Garcia was alone in the house.

Woodway police Chief Yost Zakhary said his officers seized more than two-dozen firearms from the home, along with several boxes of ammunition.

Police said Garcia was being taken to the McLennan County Jail for booking.
