WACO (August 13, 2014) A quick-acting neighbor who reported a house fire in North Waco Tuesday afternoon saved the house from destruction.
Fire units were sent at about 3:45 p.m. to a residence in the 2100 block of Parrott Avenue after a neighbor called 911 to report a fire outside a house.
No one was home at the time of the blaze, which was contained to the exterior at the back of the house, acting Assistant Waco Fire Chief R.M. Bergerson said.
Firefighters had the blaze under control in about five minutes.
When the first units arrived they found the house filled with smoke and made their way inside, Bergerson said.
Bergerson said damage to the house would have been much worse had a neighbor not immediately called for help.
The cause of the blaze was under investigation but fire officials said they do not believe the blaze is suspicious.
