WACO (February 14, 2013)--Cabela's announced plans Thursday to open a new Cabela's Outpost Store in the Central Texas Marketplace on Interstate 35 in Waco.
Cabela's spokesman Wes Remmer said in a news release that work on the 42,000-square-foot store is scheduled to begin in March.
The Waco location will be the fourth Cabela's store in Texas, joining stores already operating in Fort Worth, Buda and Allen.
"Texas is full of outdoorsmen and women who live the Cabela's lifestyle - people who share our enthusiasm for outdoor adventure - so this is a marvelous fit," said Tommy Millner, Cabela's Chief Executive Officer.
The outpost stores offer the same products as the larger stores, but are more seasonal in their merchandising approach, Remmer said.
Cabela's says the Waco store will employ approximately 100 full-time, part-time and seasonal employees, most of them hired locally.
Currently, Cabela's operates 41 stores across the United States and Canada with plans to open an additional 14 by the end of 2014.
The company opened its first Cabela's Outpost store in Union Gap, Wash., in October 2012.
It also opened a Cabela's Outpost store in Saginaw, Mich., on Thursday.
