WACO (February 19, 2013)--An argument over a woman Tuesday afternoon in East Waco left one man with injuries and resulted in another’s arrest.

Roy McChristian Ross, 41, was listed Tuesday on the McLennan County Jail roster as awaiting bond and facing charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, evading arrest, possession of marijuana less than 2 ounces and was being held on two traffic warrants.

The argument resulted in a stabbing and led to a neighborhood search during which a middle school was locked down as a precaution.

The stabbing, which was reported at around 12:20 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Clifton Street and East Waco Drive, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Omora Rashad Giles, 34, who had been stabbed repeatedly in the hands, arm, neck and head, was taken to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center for treatment of what police said were non-life-threatening injuries.

As officers first arrived at the scene, one saw the victim get into a vehicle and leave as another vehicle gave chase.

Officers stopped the second vehicle at Lenox and Turner Streets and arrested a 40-year-old man.

Several minutes later officers were notified that the victim had called for paramedics and was with the ambulance at the intersection of North 18th Street and Reuter Avenue.

The stabbing happened in the vicinity of Carver Middle School, which was locked down while officers secured the area, Waco Independent School District spokesman Dale Caffey said.
