Police Investigation Leads to Meth Bust

A police investigation leads to discovery of large amounts of  methamphetamines.

WACO (February 6, 2014) An estimated $35,000 worth of methamphetamines is off the streets after a Waco police drug enforcement investigation.

Gilbert Mike Melendez, 51, was arrested on Wednesday.

Officers served a search warrant at a home in the 3500 block of Leland in Waco.

According to Waco police, Melendez was taken into custody after officers discovered 288 grams of crystallized methamphetamines (ice) in his possession.

Waco police report Melendez was taken into custody after being seen in a vehicle by members of the Waco police department SWAT unit.

He was arrested without incident.

Additional evidence discovered during the search the residence includes weighing scales, packaging and a semi-automatic handgun.

Melendez has been charged with possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

He is being held in the McLennan County Jail without bond on a federal hold.
