ROBINSON (March 6, 2013)--The City of Robinson said Tuesday residents and businesses can expect water and sewer rates to increase this month after a second rate increase went into effect March 1.

The city said the increases are necessary to repay the certificates of obligation that were issued for infrastructure improvements.

Rates effective March 1 are $3.59 per 1,000 gallons of water and $3.77 per 1,000 gallons if more than 10,000 gallons are used.

Sewer rates are $28.62 per month plus 53 cents per thousand gallon water usage based on the average water use of December, January and February.

That monthly amount is not to exceed $32.

Two rate increases were put in place to pay off the certificates with the first price increase effective in October of last year.

Commercial sewer and water rates and bulk water rates are also increasing, a city spokesperson said.
