WACO (March 12, 2014) Seven people have been arrested in a lengthy investigation aimed at illegal drug trafficking in the Waco area.
Summer Skains Cockrell, 36, James Christopher Pena, 38, Billy Joe Wyers, 37, Paul Ray Resendez, 39, Michael Flores, 24, Dedrick Evans, 25, and Martie McMinn, 25, were all arrested on Monday on various drug and other charges, authorities said Wednesday.
Resendez posted a $10,000 bond and Evans posted a $10,500 bond and were later released, jail records show.
Cockrell, also known as Summer Lynn Skains, was ordered held on traffic warrants and was awaiting drug charges, online jail records showed Wednesday.
Pena was ordered held in lieu of $2,500 bond charged with possession of a controlled substance and without bond on a separate possession of controlled substance and possession of marijuana charge.
Wyers was ordered held in lieu of bonds totaling $502,500, charged with possession of controlled substance, forgery enhanced and possession of methamphetamine, online jail records showed.
Flores was ordered held in lieu of $10,000 bond charged with possession of a controlled substance.
McMinn was ordered held in lieu of bonds totaling $7,000, charged with possession of controlled substance and possession of marijuana, online jail records showed.
The arrests stemmed from an investigation by the McLennan County Sheriff's Organized Crime Unit into drug possession and trafficking in the area, Sheriff Parnell McNamara said Wednesday.
On Monday deputies stopped a vehicle and after searching the car, raided two motel rooms in Waco, where they recovered drugs and other items that resulted in arrests, McNamara said.
In addition to the drugs deputies recovered a machine that was being used to forge identification cards and credit cards, McNamara said.
OCU Deputies were assisted in the operation by the McLennan County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division and the Texas Department of Public Safety Criminal Investigation Division, McNamara said.
