WACO (March 8, 2014) Waco’s first Comic-Con drew thousands on its first day Saturday.

The event, which continues Sunday at the Extraco Events Center, is bringing comic book characters and pop culture icons to life.

Thanks to Aaron Foster, the creator of Heart of Texas Comic-Con, Robb McNully was able to meet the voice behind Goku.

"I never thought I would get to say ‘I met Goku,’" McNully said.

Celebrities were on hand to answer fans’ questions, artists drew, knights battled and tanks were driven.

But most of the thousands who gathered Saturday were simply watching.

"My favorite part of this Comic-Con is all the people," McNully said.

Some in the crowd came in costume.

"The different costumes, everyone's really decked for this event," said Heart of Texas Comic-Con Attendee, Kyle Gilmore.

Interacting with fans was a treat for celebrities too.

Vanessa Branch is known for her roles in the “Pirates of the Caribbean” films.

"These kinds of conventions are always really fun, you get to meet so many fans who have who have been following different series you have done for such a long period of time," she said.

"When the fans are here to talk to you about the work you've done its exciting and it's really nice," said Branch.
