WACO (December 17, 2012)--Fire did some damage to the exterior of a North Waco home Monday morning, but the residents were able to escape without injury.

Firefighters were sent just after 10 a.m. to a house at the corner of North 16th Street and Trice Avenue where the first crew on the scene reported light smoke coming from a single-story wood frame house.

The fire was quickly extinguished and damage to the house was limited to the outside.

Two people inside the house weren't even aware the home was on fire until a neighbor alerted them to the smoke.

The residents escaped with three dogs.

They left a number of hamsters inside, but they all survived, as well.

There was no indication of what started the fire but a fire marshal had been called to the scene to investigate.
