WACO (March 4, 2014) Former first lady Laura Bush spoke Tuesday at the annual Go Red For Women luncheon in Waco.
The Go Red For Women program has united millions of women in the effort to battle heart disease.
Bush joked Tuesday about adjusting to life out of the public eye as she spoke to the luncheon crowd of about 900 at the Waco Convention Center.
Heart disease survivors also shared their stories through a video presentation.
Jenna Miller, 29, suffered heart failure months after her baby girl Kailey was born and eventually had a heart attack.
"It was devastating. The first thing they told me was to not have any more children,” she said.
“You know you want to be this new active upbeat mom and it was hard to do that."
