WACO (April 16, 2014) Pedro Damiau Rodriguez, 25, was free on bond Wednesday after he was arrested and charged in connection with an assault on his ex-girlfriend and her mother, police said Wednesday.

Rodriguez posted a $16,000 bond after he was charged with burglary of a habitation with intent to commit another felony, assault and interference with an emergency call.

Rodriguez was arrested just after 10 p.m. Tuesday at a residence in the 900 block of Reynolds Drive, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

Officers were sent to the home after police received a report that a man had assaulted his ex-girlfriend.

The woman told investigators a man broke into her home and began assaulting her, knocking her to the floor.

The attacker then smashed her cell phone as she was trying to call 911 for help.

The woman's 61-year-old mother came into the house and she, too, was attacked, Swanton said.

When officers returned to the home they found a man there and arrested him.
