WACO (July 27, 2012)--A Waco man pleaded guilty Thursday to possession with intent to distribute and distribution of crack cocaine.
U.S. District Judge Walter S. Smith set Scotty Stephens for sentencing on Sept. 19.
A document filed with the court indicates Stephens and three other co-conspirators hatched a plan beginning in January 2009 to obtain and sell crack cocaine in and around Waco.
An investigator with the identified Stephens ad a member of the group and began to set up controlled buys of drugs from him.
The officer then arranged for a confidential informant to make more drug buys from Stephens.
On Aug. 11, 2011, Waco police SWAT officers and other agents served a search warrant on Stephens' home on Hawthorne Drive and at other locations in Waco, where officers found a plastic baggie with a rock like substance, that later tested positive for the presence of cocaine.
Agents also found approximately $3,575 in cash.
