Clayton Berkley (Jail photo)
WACO (December 12, 2012)--A man who was living in Waco last summer was in custody Wednesday in Dallas after his arrest Tuesday on a warrant charging sexual assault.
Clayton Berkley, 51, was held Wednesday in the Dallas County Jail, but the jail log did not reflect a bond.
Berkley was named in a warrant issued on Nov. 26 in the late May or early June sexual assault of a Waco woman at an apartment on Austin Avenue, Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.
The victim, who was in her mid-20s, did not report the assault for some time, but when she did, detectives were able to identify a suspect and obtain a warrant.
Swanton said Berkley was living at the Oak Lodge Motel at the time of the assault.
Members of the U.S. Marshal’s Task Force arrested him on Tuesday.
Swanton said Berkley will be transferred to the McLennan County Jail.
