LAREDO (February 19, 2013)--A man was in custody in South Texas Tuesday after he was arrested in connection with a sexual assault in a bathroom at Cameron Park almost two years ago.
Roberto Meza, 23, was named in a Waco police warrant charging him with sexual assault after a teenage girl was sexually assaulted on July 7, 2011 inside a bathroom at Cameron Park, according to Waco police St. W. Patrick Swanton
U.S. marshals arrested Meza Monday in Webb County on the Texas-Mexico border.
The warrant alleges Meza raped a 16-year-old girl.
An affidavit shows the victim told police she had gone with two friends to Cameron Park to meet a man at the Lover's Leap that day.
The three girls skipped school at Waco High School, stopped to pick up some beer and then headed to meet the man.
The victim reported during the meeting the man took her into a bathroom at the park and sexually assaulted her, then left in a green Ford Explorer.
The police report showed the man was a friend of one of the girls who knew him by another name.
Detectives identified Meza as a suspect last October and obtained a warrant for his arrest.
