WACO (February 26, 2013)—Anthony Richards, 25, was in the McLennan County Jail Tuesday, charged with burglary of a motor vehicle and a list of unrelated traffic violations after his arrest in connection with the theft of 10 batteries from a local business earlier this month.
Richards was arrested on Sunday on a warrant that was issued on Feb. 18.
An off-duty officer who became suspicious when someone arrived at a local recycling business on Feb. 7 with several new and used batteries to sell as scrap alerted on-duty officers who discovered the batteries had been stolen from the boats, the car and the camper at a business in the 3500 block of Franklin Avenue.
The batteries were worth about $1,000, but the person who sold them from scrap got only about $100, police said.
The batteries were returned to the business.
