WACO (June 17, 2014) Waco police asked for the public’s help Tuesday as they continue to look for the driver of a pickup truck who left the scene of a crash that left a motorcyclist seriously injured.

The crash happened at around 3:25 p.m. on May 30 on Steinbeck bend near the intersection with Sydney Drive, police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said.

The motorcyclist, who wasn’t identified, was riding a fully-dressed 2002 Harley Davidson south behind what police think was a white pickup truck that was carrying a large metal hog trap, which slid out of the bed and onto the road, Swanton said.

The motorcyclist laid down the bike in an attempt to avoid the trap, suffering broken bones, and a punctured lung, Swanton said.

The driver of the truck left the scene after the crash, Swanton said.

Police are asking anyone with information about the truck or its driver to call Detective Justin Lauderdale at (254) 750-3620 or Crime Stoppers at (254) 753-HELP.
