WACO (August 14, 2014) A Waco woman was in the McLennan County Jail Thursday charged in connection with a violent shoplifting incident at a local department store.

Tracy Michelle Bowers, 33, was ordered held in lieu of $10,000 bond on a charge of robbery with fear of injury or death.

Bond was pending on a second charge of failure to stop and identify, jail records showed.

Waco police Officer Steve Anderson said on July 26 Bowers and another woman were at the Kohl's store at Central Texas Market Place where a security guard saw two women leaving the store with a large amount of clothing they didn’t pay for.

The loss prevention officer tried to confront the women, but they refused to stop, got into their car in the parking lot and tried to leave.

As they did so the driver almost struck the officer with the open door of her car, which did strike another parked car.

Then as the two sped off, they almost struck other parked cars in the lot, police said.

Anderson did not say if the other woman has been identified or if she has been arrested.
