Waco: A Dozen Midway Students Given Top National Recognition

WACO (October 5, 2012)--A dozen Midway High School students were recognized this week for their PSAT, SAT and ACT test scores.

Sarah Goodnight was named a National Merit Semifinalist, ranking among the top one percent of more than 1.5 million students who entered the academic competition.

She will have an opportunity to advance and compete for more than 8,000 scholarships that will be awarded next spring.

Lauren McLean was one of approximately 1,600 African Americans named a semifinalist in the National Achievement Program.

Ten students were named National Merit Commended for their scores on the PSAT test.

The test scores rank in the top 5 percent in the nation.

Those students include: Kaylie Meek, Jeremy Petersen, Camille Plemmons, Timothy “Scooter” Schmidt, David Sheehy, Claire Smith, Erin Tang, William Bennett, Melodie Brown and Anupama Ancha.
