Waco: Baylor Students Rally To Raise Money For Alert Dog For Professor With Diabetes

WACO (February 27, 2013)--A fundraiser will get underway Thursday to benefit Baylor University Associate Professor of Christian Scriptures Dr. Lai Ling Ngan who suffers with diabetes.

The fundraiser will help purchase a $27,000 diabetic alert dog that will let her know when her glucose levels are dropping.

About $14,000 has already been raised and Cedric, an 8-month-old yellow lab, is currently being trained to meet her needs.

A chili cookoff and silent auction will begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Seventh and James Baptist Church.

Live music by Canon Sound will also set the scene.

Tickets are $10 and will not exceed $30 for larger families.

Attendees must be present to win the auction items which include a motorized scooter, restaurant gift cards, digital camera, 9-foot Christmas tree, BU sports tickets and more.
