WACO (February 28, 2013)--Four Waco firefighters received the Liberty Mutual Firemark Award for their efforts in successfully rescuing occupants inside of a burning trailer home earlier this month.

The home on N. 19th Street was dense with heavy smoke and flames when the firefighters arrived but they acted courageously without regard to their own safety.

Lance Beatty, David Sauer, Michael Ball and Lex Hayes received the award during a ceremony at the Waco Fire Emergency Services Education Center.

The awards were presented by Justin Blalock of Round Rock’s Liberty Mutual office.

The award is presented annually to firefighters throughout the country who demonstrate a firefighter’s selfless spirit.

The men will be considered for the national award in which two winners receive a $10,000 grant for their fire departments.
