WACO (October 15, 2012)--Live Oak Classical School will be honored with a solar donation Tuesday, thanks to Green Mountain Energy customers and former student, D.J. Achterhof.
A $30,000 donation was made possible by the Green Mountain Energy Sun Club, a voluntary program in which customers make monthly contributions toward solar generation systems for nonprofits.
A solar array will be installed on the school’s roof which will help them save on their electricity bill and provide clean energy.
More than 10,000 pounds of carbon dioxide a year will be avoided, a spokesperson for the company said.
Achterhof, a freshman at Baylor University, applied for the donation while he was a senior at the school.
The dedication will take place on the school’s lawn at 10:15 a.m.
The school is located at 420 S. 5th Street.
The public is invited to attend.
