WACO (November 13, 2012)--In conjunction with National Adoption Awareness Month, Baylor Law School will hold a special Adoption Day in which some McLennan County children will receive forever homes.
In McLennan County 96 children are still waiting for forever homes, according to the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.
The Why Not Me? Campaign during the month of November hopes to spotlight the children currently in state care, especially minority and older children who tend to stay there longer.
Since the campaign’s inception in 2005, adoptions from the DFPS have increased by 48 percent.
Adoptions this year were 8 percent higher than last year.
