WACO (November 16, 2012)--A break in an 8-inch force-main has caused more than 180,000 gallons of wastewater to spill.
The city is required by the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality to notify residents, but city officials do not believe that drinking water is unsafe or tainted.
The discharge occurred at 4731 Bellmead Drive Thursday afternoon.
Crews worked until 1 a.m. containing and disinfecting the wastewater.
City officials say residents may wish to boil their water although a boil water notice has not been issued.
