Waco: Organization Harvests One Ton Of Fresh Produce For Food Banks

WACO (May 14, 2013)—A Garden Party and Celebration will be held Thursday honoring the consumers, volunteers and staff of HOTI Day Habilitation Facility who raised one ton of fresh produce for area food banks.

Helping Others Take Initiative (HOTI) Day Habilitation is an outreach of the Heart of Texas Region Mental Health Mental Retardation Center that offers life skills training, supported employment, job coaching, job development, job placement, contracted vocational training, and a varied day habilitation program.

A “We Care Garden” was made possible at the facility by numerous businesses and now the group is saying “thank you” with a significant donation to area food banks and a celebration on Thursday.

The Garden Party will begin at 11 a.m. at the facility on South 4th Street.
