WACO (December 12, 2012)--Tour the Texas manor Hawkesdene Thursday and help raise money for the Waco Mammoth Site Children’s Discovery Area.

Hawkesdene derives its name from the Old English word “dene,” which means valley, and from the owners, Jim and Nell Hawkins.

Hawkesdene boasts six acres of land and 15,000 square feet that have entertained former president George W. Bush and former senators Sarah Palin and Rick Santorum, among others.

For $100 per person, trolley service and a tour will be given of the elegantly decorated home.

Money raised will be spent on the $1.2 million development at the Waco Mammoth Site to include educational kiosks, hands-on learning areas, play structures and a fossil dig.

Tickets must be purchased in advance of the tour from the mammoth site.

The home is located at the edge of Lake Waco and trolley service will be provided from Christ the King Baptist Church at 4777 Lakeshore Drive.

Holiday at Hawkesdene will be held from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m.

Tickets can be purchased by calling (254) 750-7937.
