WACO (November 26, 2012)--A town hall Wednesday hosted by the Greater Waco Chamber will address hunger issues in the community.
The town hall will assist the Food Planning Task Force in uncovering the community's needs so that a strategic plan can be developed to help end hunger in McLennan County.
One topic is Breakfast in the Classroom, an initiative that makes breakfast available to every student, no matter their parents’ income level.
Attendees will also learn about the Texas Health and Human Services community partner program which oversees the Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC), Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS), Department of State Health Services (DSHS), Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS), and Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS).
Community members are invited to share their thoughts on issues relating to hunger and strategies for ending the widespread epidemic.
The meeting is slated for 2 p.m. at the Greater Waco Chamber of Commerce building located at 101 S. Third Street.
