(October 8, 2012)--A one-day class slated for Wednesday will teach interested community members how to perform hands-only CPR.
Heart of Texas Regional Advisory Council (HOTRAC), in conjunction with Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center, Providence Hospital, McLennan Community College and Air Evac Lifeteam, will implement the program by holding 10-minute group classes with each group not to exceed 10 people.
Participants will then be encouraged to teach another small group for ten minutes.
According to HOTRAC, the chance of survival decreases by 7 to 10 percent for every minute that follows an incident in which CPR is not given.
On Wednesday, community members are invited to Providence Hospital, outside of the cafeteria, from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m.
Hill Regional Hospital will also be providing the Take 10 Hands-Only CPR sessions from 10 a.m. until 3 p.m.
To take part in sessions at Richland Mall, visit the women’s Dillards court beginning at 2 p.m.
Residents in West will also have an opportunity to receive the training by visiting the Air Evac Lifeteam at 505 Meadow Drive. Training is throughout the day.
For an evening time, visit First Baptist Church at 501 N. Marable in West beginning at 7 p.m.
To schedule a class on a different day, contact HOTRAC at (254) 202-8740.
