BELTON (January 29, 2013) --- Construction efforts moved forward Thursday on the new Goodwill store that's set to open in Belton this summer.

Christina Taylor with the Heart of Texas Goodwill Industries said the new store will be a 23,000-square-foot facility at the corner of Sparta Road and Commerce Drive in Belton.

"We are always looking to expand our services in the communities of our assigned area and we've been looking at Belton for a few years and have finally found the right location," Taylor said.

The facility will have a production center, learning center and a retail store and could provide close to 25 jobs to people in the area.

Texas Goodwill Industries currently serves seven cities in the Central Texas area with 13 stores.

Officials estimated the project to cost close to $2.7 million.

Construction on the facility broke ground at the end of 2012 and officials are hoping to open the store for business by summer 2013.
