WACO (April 11, 2013)-A Waco woman was held in the McLennan County Jail Thursday charged with endangering a child.

Carolyn Marie Crowder, 29, was held in lieu of $5,000 bond charged with abandoning or endangering a child.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said Crowder was arrested on Wednesday after Waco police obtained a warrant based upon an investigation that began in March.

Swanton said officers were called to the emergency room at Providence Hospital after medical personnel reported they were treating an injured child.

While officers were interviewing the child's mother she became belligerent and was arguing with officers.

The woman was arrested for public intoxication.

Officers later requested an arrest warrant for the mother on the endangering a child charge.

Swanton provided no details on the injuries the child suffered.
