WACO (February 27, 2013)—A man was arrested early Wednesday morning after a patrol officer witnessed an auto burglary in progress.

The man, who had not been identified, was seen early Wednesday breaking into a vehicle in the 2000 block of Flint Avenue by an officer who was on patrol in the area.

Waco police Sgt. W. Patrick Swanton said the suspect ran when he saw the officer but was caught after a short foot chase in the neighborhood.

When the officer searched the suspect he found some change that had been taken from the vehicle.

The suspect was awaiting booking at the McLennan County Jail and faced a charge of burglary of a motor vehicle, Swanton said.
