GATESVILLE (March 6, 2013)--A Gatesville man was indicted Tuesday in connection with a January incident during which a woman and another man were assaulted in a grocery store parking lot.
Christopher Edwards Evans, 34, was being held Wednesday in the Coryell County Jail in lieu of bonds totaling $67,912, charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, unlawfully carrying a weapon, assault by contact, assault by contact family violence, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon family violence and assault family violence impede breath or circulation.
The indictment returned Tuesday charges only the aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, grand jury records show.
Gatesville police reported at the time of the incident that Evans’ ex-wife was assaulted and another man was threatened with a gun outside of a local supermarket.
Gatesville police Chief Nathan Gohlke said officers were sent on Jan. 7 to the 1200 block of North Lutterloh Avenue outside the H-E-B store, where a woman reported she had been attacked and that her boyfriend had been threatened with a gun.
When police arrived at the scene they arrested Evans and took him to the county jail.
Police recovered the weapon at the scene.
