TEMPLE (April 4, 2013)—Temple police were looking for a man they believe held up a local convenience store early Wednesday morning.

Temple police Cpl. Christopher Wilcox said officers were sent at about 12:40 a.m. Wednesday to the Exxon store at 2016 S. 1st Street after an employee reported a robbery.

The victim told officers a man came into the store, pulled out a handgun and demanded money from the cash register.

The gunman left the store on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash and ran north from the store.

Officers immediately searched the area around the store but were unable to locate a suspect.

Wilcox said the victim was not injured during the incident.

The suspect was described as a black man, 5-feet 10-inches to 6-feet tall and about 165 to 180 pounds.

The victim said the gunman was dressed in a black and white hooded jacket, light pants and black athletic shoes.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact the Temple Police Department at 254-298-5500.
