TEMPLE (April 4, 2013)--A dedication ceremony for a new sculpture to adorn Woodbridge Park will take place at the park on Saturday.

The new sculpture, "War Chile," was done by Aaron Gist, a local artist from Salado and is being donated by Janet and Rick Bandas.

The couple chose Woodbridge Park to donate the sculpture to because it is close to their home and thought it was the perfect location, Janet Bandas said.

"Art makes an outdoor setting more fun and it breaks up the monotony of a walk on the trail," Bandas said.

"War Chile" is described by Gist as an abstract, monolithic, guardian piece.

"It is definitely going to be something people are not used to seeing, so I hope it challenges their definition of beauty," Gist said.

The dedication ceremony will take place at the park at 9 a.m.

"This sculpture is a wonderful and unique addition to our park system," Temple Parks and Leisure Services Director, Ken Cicora said. "The art that has been donated into our parks only helps to make our community even better."
