TEMPLE (April 4, 2013)--The Temple City Council voted to authorize the construction and installation of directional signage downtown Thursday.

The $400,000 contract was given to National Signs LLC out of Houston.

The new signage will include several different styles to include kiosk, directional, parking, and informational signage for downtown.

"The Temple Downtown Association and the Reinvestment Zone #1 have considered this project a high priority," City Parks and Leisure Services Director Ken Cicora said.

The signage will be installed on East Adams, West Central, North 3rd, and South 1st Streets to direct residents and visitors around downtown.

Four-sided kiosk signs will illustrate where important places and buildings are located.

The new signs are expected to be installed by the end of the year.

"We think it is going to be a major improvement in the downtown area that will help people easily identify downtown attractions and parking locations for our visitors," Cicora said.
