KILLEEN (April 10, 2013)--Students from the Texas School for the Deaf will head to Variety's Peaceable Kingdom Retreat Thursday to learn more about accomplishing careers in computers.

The career development workshop, for 9th and 10th graders, is themed "What's Your Game?" as an introduction to video game development and computer programming for students interested in these career fields.

The retreat will begin Friday and end Sunday. The weekend event will teach students hands-on activities guided by deaf and hard-of-hearing professionals.

The event will focus on promoting open-minded attitudes, meeting peer and adult role models, and career exploration.

Activities will include skits, team building activities, and recreational activities.

Peaceable Kingdom Retreat is a program by Variety, The Children's Charity of Texas, a non-profit organization geared toward empowering children with special needs.
