GROESBECK (April 11, 2013)--The Limestone County Fair and Youth Livestock Show is underway at the Limestone County Fairgrounds.

Youth will show various types of animals including chickens, turkeys, cattle, goats, and pigs.

Judges will judge the livestock and award prizes to winners. A belt will be awarded to Grand Champions in each category.

On Friday, breeding swine and rabbits will be showed at the fair.

Children not yet old enough to show will be allowed to participate in a pet show at 6 p.m. Friday. Kids are invited to bring their pets to share.

A BBQ cook-off will also take place Friday evening. Various booths of food and arts and crafts will be available as part of the fair.

“The big day is Saturday, that’s when we judge our market swine and cattle,” Limestone County Fair Association Board Director Chris Wilson said.

A youth dance will take place following the cattle show.

“It gives them time to unwind and do what they want to do,” Wilson said.

The event will end with a commission free market sale on Monday at 6:30 p.m. Youth with top qualifying animals will be allowed to put their animals on display for bidding.

The Fair and Youth Livestock Show is put on by the Limestone County Fair Association. For more information call the Limestone County Fairgrounds at (254) 747-2120.
